“Mathias… you’ll be able to have a nice long chat with the guards at the station.”

“I have no relation to this!! The adventurers over there did it by themselves!!”

Mathias began making excuses, but Gelta was the first to interrupt him.

“I’ll tell you everything. We took a request from that chairman over there, and kidnapped the girl. I’m either becoming a slave or getting the death penalty anyway. I pointed my sword at a noble; I give up. Even if I were to run away, there’s no hope of me winning against the young master over there.”

“!? …Ugh…”

If even the adventurer he had hired had confessed, Mathias had no choice but to give up.

Keeping the kneeling, now despaired Mathias in a corner of his eye, Cain called out to the guard captain.

“Guard Captain-san, that’s alright, right? I’ll leave the children downstairs to you. Mathias and the adventurers too. I will be taking Palma home though. I hope that’s okay.”

The guard captain nodded.

“There are children down here!”

Came shouts from the guards who had gone ahead underground. Then, their cells unlocked, the children were brought upstairs by the guards.

The guard captain knelt down to be in eye-height with the children and gently asked them.

“How long have you been there for…?”

A girl from amongst the trembling children who weren’t even ten years old yet weakly opened her mouth.

“Since about ten days ago, I think… but, it was always so dark, I couldn’t really tell… can I go home…?”

“It’s all right now, we’re guards who protect the city. We’ll get you all home safely.”

Perhaps being relieved due to the guard captain’s words, the children started crying. The guard captain gently patted each and every one of their heads, then stood up.

His gentle smile from earlier disappearing, he sent a strict gaze towards Mathias.

“Kidnapping is a serious crime. Be prepared for the consequences. Such small children… how dare you… men, seize him and the adventurers!”

At the guard captain’s words, the guards got out some rope, and, tying them up, took them outside.

The guard captain then turned back to Cain and bowed deeply.

“Thank you very much for this, Count Silford. I’ll submit the documents we find to the royal castle. Also –– Your Imperial Highness, I am deeply grateful for you expending your valuable time and effort for our Kingdom. I’ll be conducting a search of this building from now on. There might also be other things hidden here…”

Cain and Liltana said ‘Thank you’, nodding in response to the guard captain’s words.

“I’ll leave the rest to you then; we’re going home. Palma, I’ll drop you off.”

Cain and the others all left the Narnis Company building together. Then –– Darmeshia whispered into Cain’s ear.

“Cain-sama… we didn’t come by carriage…”

Hearing that, Cain remembered that they had Transferred there, and smiled bitterly. Perhaps Liltana had also heard those words, as she offered to take them home in her carriage.

Nigeet and Darmeshia got on the coachman’s seats while Cain, Liltana and Palma rode inside the carriage.

Palma was nervous and hesitant about riding in a princess’ carriage, but Liltana took her by the hand and made her get in.

Then, the carriage set off towards the Sarakhan Company.

The Sarakhan Company building was around ten minutes away by carriage. After all, all companies were in the same vicinity inside the city, so they arrived not long after.

Tamanis was agitatedly pacing back and forth in front of the building.

A gorgeous carriage stopped in front of him. Even if he was the one managing the company, if a luxurious carriage belonging to the imperial family stopped in front of him, he had to be respectful, even if he really wasn’t in the mood.

Nigeet got off the coachman’s seat and opened the door.

Palma, in tears, got off the carriage and immediately hugged Tamanis.

“Uncleeeeeeeee!!!”

“Palmaaaaaaaaa!!!”

While Tamanis was hugging Palma, happy she was safe, Cain and Liltana also got off the carriage.

“I’ve brought her home safely.”

Tamanis turned around at Cain’s voice, where, noticing Cain, and Liltana next to him, his face paled.

“Cain-sama!? And… Y-Y-Your Imperial Highness too!?”

Tamanis looked up at the Baisasean imperial family’s coat-of-arms adorning the carriage, his face falling.

His joy reversed itself as he went down on one knee.

“I-I’m sorry for being so rude. Did you two save Palma…?”

The two of them nodded silently, at which Tamanis bowed so deep his head was touching the ground.

“Palma’s a school friend. I’m glad she’s safe.”

While Liltana smiled unfazed, Tamanis found the fact that the imperial princess herself had gone to save Palma unbelievable. As a simple commoner he was too scared to raise his head.

“Tamanis-san, please raise your head already. Palma returned home unharmed. The guards will probably come here in a little while too.”

“Cain-sama… really, I can’t even express my gratitude.”

“It’s alright. Palma’s my friend too, after all. Well, we’ll be going home now. They’re probably worrying back home.”

Tamanis and Palma both bowed deeply to the smiling Cain.

“Cain-sama, I’ll give you a lift to your mansion.”

“No… I can just walk from he––”

I’ll give you a lift.

Cain nodded, quickly realising it would be impossible to refuse Liltana after she had changed her tone of voice a little like that.

“Bye Palma, see you at school tomorrow!”

“Well then, please excuse me too.”

The two of them got back on the carriage, which set off at Nigeet’s signal. Tamanis and Palma continued bowing until the carriage disappeared off into the distance.

“But still… Cain-sama, you really saved us today. If you hadn’t arrived when you did…”

Liltana reflected on what she had done and trembled a little, then grabbed Cain’s sleeve’s cuff.

“Yeah, true. That was quite dangerous. If I had been late to arrive… You’re an Imperial Princess, so show some self-restraint.”

“But… I found the carriages, so… Anyway, really, thank you for saving us.”

The distance between Cain and Liltana lessened, albeit gradually.

Close enough to each other for their shoulders to touch, Liltana’s cheeks were dyed.

“Cain… the truth is––”

“We’ve arrived at Cain-sama’s mansion.”

“……”

“We’ve arrived. Then, see ya tomorrow.”

“––yeah… see you tomorrow.”

Getting off the carriage, Cain saw them off.

◇◇◇

“But still, Cain-sama really is strong… I couldn’t see his movements at all.”

“……”

“Liltana-sama, please don’t be so reckless again.”

“……”

Unlike Nigeet, who was driving the carriage while smiling and talking to her, Liltana had her hands balled into fists, trembling from rage.

“Hmm, Liltana-sama? Did you fall asleep?”

As he was driving the coach and looking forwards, Nigeet couldn’t see Liltana’s expression.

Liltana was glaring at Nigeet, who had interfered with her alone-time with Cain and was now casually talking to her.

–– and then she finally snapped.

“…Nigeet you… idiooooooooooooooooooooot!!!!!”

“Eeeeeeehhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh!?”

Nigeet was shocked by the sudden outburst of abuse coming from behind him.

  3. It’s very unlikely for Palma to enter the harem, she’s just a friend for Cain. So far all the girls in Cain’s harem are High ranking Nobility or has a very recognized Title.

    1. Really? I mean I doubt she’ll be able to get the title of wife, but concubine should be doable. And in my book concubine counts as part of the harem.
