Leaving the adventurers’ guild, Cain and co. went back to the Cat’s Harmony Pavilion together.

That was because the other four were in no mood to accept any requests any more.

The person who had been on an escort job with them was an S-Rank adventurer, as well as the town’s lord.

There was no way they could say ‘Now, let’s go and accept a request!’ after having been hit by such a shocking truth.

Moreover, as things had happened, it was now already lunchtime.

“I also sometimes eat there.”

The other four were stunned by Cain’s words.

As far as the four of them knew, nobles ate extravagant food in luxurious mansions.

No matter how tasty the food at the Cat’s Harmony Pavilion was, they could hardly believe that the head of a family of nobles ate there.

–– Actually, no, the Lord in their hometown of Misinga was the same.

The town of Misinga the four of them came from was quite lively, as it was a port town, and the lord always fought on the front lines when monsters appeared.

The four of them had come to understand that that was exclusive to Misinga after having passed through many towns on their escort job.

“Hehehe, Cain’s also that kind of lord…”

Lagett said, reminiscing about Misinga, relaxing a little.

As he had been told in the guild to ‘Treat me like you have until now when I’m in my adventurer’s clothes’, he spoke in somewhat broken sentences.

“It’s where I ate when I first came to this town, the Cat’s harmony Pavilion. I stayed the night there too.”

Lagett and the three others smiled at Cain’s commoner-like words.

“That’s true. The food is tasty and the rooms are clean, so much so that I could just stay and live there.”

“You said it. It really is quite nice and cosy. It’s a pity they don’t do fish though…”

Cain had already heard about how fish was usually used in cooking in the town they came from due to the place being on the coast.

As they were talking, they arrived at the Cat’s Harmony Pavilion.

As they opened the door and went inside, Enaku called out to them cheerfully.

“Welcome! Oh, Cain-oniichan!! And Ninalee-san and the others too! Welcome back!”

“Enaku, we’d like to order some lunch please.”

Shown over to it, they all sat down at a large, six-seater table.

“Today’s lunch is Orc steak.”

“Mm, then let’s have that. Also, some fruit juice please.”

“Same here.” “Me too please~”

Everyone ordered Enaku’s recommended food.

Having taken all their orders, Enaku ran off to the kitchen.

“Enaku-chan’s really amazing. She’s that small yet she helps out in the inn.”

Cain nodded at Ninalee’s words, recalling the attack case that happened in the past.

“Anyway, Cain… -kun? Sama? Ever since we found out about who you are, I’ve been agonizing over what to call you. You’re still a student, but you’re the lord here, as well as a count. And you’re also an S-Rank adventurer. Normally, nobody would believe that…”

“Just Cain is fine. I usually keep my identity a secret when I’m an adventurer. It’s more comfortable for me that way too.”

Not long after, still sizzling steaks were brought out and laid in front of each of them.

The savoury smell coming from the thick steak matched the delicious smell of the sauce that came with it, making them all lick their lips.

Unable to wait any longer, they all started cutting up their steaks.

“Mmmmmm, delicious!!”

“The food here really is delicious!”

As everyone said similar words of praise about the food, Cain too, ate the delicious food with relish.

After they finished eating, Cain said goodbye to Lagett’s party and went back to his mansion.

–– Two weeks later.

“Thank you very much for everything, Cain-sama. Also, –– Alec-sama, I’ll be lonely not being able to see you, so please come over as soon as you can…”

Leline was saying goodbye, as it was the day she was going back to Misinga.

She was already in her travelling clothes, and Cain and Alec were there to see her off.

Even while Leline’s cheeks were a little red, she had a somewhat lonely expression, but during the past two weeks, her and Alec had talked everything over, and it had been decided that they would happily marry each other.

As it was a marriage between two nobles, they had to also talk it through with both families present, and were also obligated to send a report to the king about their marriage.

Garm was in the royal capital, but the lord of Misinga, Sanz, was still in his territory.

So, Leline had to go home and report on everything as well.

The date of the talks would be decided in the future.

Knights, as well as Lagett’s party were standing around the carriage as the escorts.

Cain was being the lord, so he couldn’t simply call out to Lagett’s party though.

“Miss Leline, it seems I shall be addressing you as Big Sister in the near future. Please take care on your way home. Although, I will not be able to escort you on the way back…”

Cain remembered how he had escorted her to Drintor as an adventurer.

“Not at all, I am very grateful to Cain-sama for your consideration. Even going as far as having private soldiers accompany me.”

Cain had arranged for ten soldiers to escort her all the way to Misinga.

Arranging for adventurers would have been fine as well, but as Lagett’s party had accepted the request already, it was not an option anymore, so, after discussing it with Darmeshia, Cain had decided on private soldiers.

Then, Cain walked in front of Lagett’s party and called out to them all.

“Everyone, take care of Miss Leline.”

“Gotcha, no, understood. We’ll do, I mean fulfil, the request properly.”

“Cain-ku-…-sama, you really look like the lord like that…”

Lagett tried to use more polite language with difficulty while Ninalee smiled at Cain’s looks.

“Then, see you again sometime.”

Leline’s carriage left Drintor.

“There they go…”

“Ah, right… I never thought I’d have to decide on a marriage though…”

“But now, you can reject all the others, so isn’t it nice? Honestly, even I didn’t think you’d receive that many…”

“Yeah, true…”

Cain and Alec nodded, returning to the mansion.

Then, Cain jumped to the royal capital with Transfer magic due to having school.

Having returned to the royal capital, Cain went to school like normal, returning to his uneventful life.

After school, invited to go shopping, Cain walked around the city with Telestia, Silk and Liltana.

As they were talking to each other, a carriage stopped next to them.

The carriage’s escorts were making incredulous faces at seeing Cain.

“H-h-h-how are you in the royal capital, Cain… -sama!? Didn’t you see us off in Drintor…?”

The ones who had found Cain and were staring at him in disbelief was –– Lagett’s group.

Cain, who had moved using Transfer magic hadn’t thought much of it, but if one thought about it time-wise, it was indeed strange.

“Uhh…”

Cain made a bitter smile. With Liltana present, there was no way he could say he had gone to the royal capital with Transfer magic, even if his mouth were to be torn open.

Getting out of the carriage, Leline was also surprised by the unlikely encounter, but seeing the girls accompanying Cain, she instantly bowed.

“–– It has been a long time. Your Highness Princess Telestia, Silk-sama, I am the daughter of Count Sanz von Legant Misinga, Leline.”

“Oh, Leline-sama, it has been a long time indeed.”

“Good morning, Leline-sama.”

Telestia and Silk responded to Leline’s words as they did usually.

They were a member of the royal family and a high-ranking noble’s family respectively, so they had their acts together.

“Um, who might this person be…?”

“Nice to meet you. I’m Liltana van Baisas. I’m currently here in Esfort as a transfer student. Nice to meet you, Leline-sama.”

Leline made a surprised face at those words.

“Oh, so you were an Imperial Princess. Please excuse my rudeness. It is nice to meet you too.”

Leline curtseyed gracefully.

Leline was the daughter of a count, a higher-rank noble. However, the ones in front of her were one of Esfort’s princesses, the daughter of a duke, and an Imperial Princess from Baisas, all together. She knew where she was ranked among them.

“Cain-sama let me stay in Drintor for two weeks until yesterday.”

The instant Leline’s explanation left her mouth, Telestia and Silk turned to Cain.

“Cain-sama…? I have heard nothing of this. Why was Lady Leline in Drintor…? –– Don’t tell me… you want to increase the number of fiancées you have again!?”

“Cain-kun… selfishly getting more… I won’t complain, but we will have a chat, okay?”

“Cain-sama, you’re not grown up yet, but if you had just a little more self-restraint… Even though I want to be one too…”

Even Liltana, standing next to him, criticized him, her voice fading by the end.

“Hang on!! You’re wrong!!”

“…Your Highness, Silk-sama, the engagement is still confidential, and the families still have to decide on it too.”

The words ‘with Alec’ were left out of Leline’s sentence, however.

Misunderstanding further, the two grabbed Cain’s shirt and drew even closer while starting to tear up.

“See! Leline-sama says so too!”

“Cain-kun, trying to hide it is despicable…”

“Cain-sama, if you like girls that much, then… me too…”

While the two drew even closer to Cain, Liltana bashfully monologued to herself in a whisper.

Cain, trying to distance himself again, gave an explanation.

“LIKE I SAID… the fiancé is my older brother, Baron Alec!”

““……huh?””

“Yes, that’s right. I visited Drintor to get engaged to Alec-sama.”

Releasing Cain, at his and Leline’s explanation, Telestia gave a quiet cough, then started laughing.

“Ohohoho, so that’s what it was… I was convinced Cain-sama had increased the number of his fiancées without telling us again…”

“–– Your Highness and Silk-sama are Cain’s fiancée, aren’t you.”

“Yes, although currently, there’s three of us…”

Amongst the nobles, Cain’s engagements with Telestia, Silk, and Tifana had already been made public.

Telestia glanced at Cain, as there was also the case of the Saint, at which Cain looked away.

“–– Is that so, Cain-sama, good for you. Alec-sama will be staying in Drintor in the future, so I hope we will get along, ladies.”

“Indeed. When you marry Alec-sama, you will be our older-sister-in-law, so let’s get along, Leline-sama.”

“Let’s get along, Leline-sama.”

Realising that they would be relatives after Leline’s marriage, Telestia and Silk greeted her once again.

Then –– speechless until then at the social positions of the people present, at the even more shocking words that followed –– Lagett unintentionally spoke.

“Eh… the Princess-sama’s fiancé is… Cain… -sama…?”

Lagett’s party, on top of being treated with the facts that Cain was S-Rank, the lord of a territory, and a count, had now also been slapped with the even more insane truth that Cain was the Princess’s fiancé. There was no way they wouldn’t be speechless.

Needless to say, it was necessary for Cain to explain everything carefully and deliberately after that.

  1. Man these girls are annoying as hell. They literally forced themselves on Cain but acts like Cain is the one who wants to marry them badly, while cheating on them to collect future wives.

Lol I know it’s not happening but it would be really funny if Cain decides to dip and create his own world like the first king, leaving everyone behind.

        1. What Kieako wanna say is ” There are a lot of people who know he is the most powerful being on the world ( except the fallen god, but everybody forgot about him) so that same lot of people can’t serioulsy think about him being killed, so him faking his death is not an inch credible, everybody ‘ll know there is something fishy”
