Naturally, Cain was quite surprised by Neil and co.’s changes in attitude.

“Claude-san, do you know Neil-san?”

At Cain’s words, Claude made a nostalgic expression, while Neil on the other hand seemed embarrassed.

“How many years ago was it now… I think it was the first time we came to this city on an escort request? Lina, Milly, and Nina were hit on by these guys. So I taught them a little lesson. Since then, it’s been like this.”

“Big bro! That’s embarrassing. It was years ago, too. Anyway, I’m surprised you know Cain… He might be somewhat famous, but…”

His sentence trailed off into silence. The other members of his party didn’t know Cain was S-Rank, so Neil had some consideration.

“When Cain was young, Milly and Nina were his private tutors. I’ve known him since he came to the royal capital. But even then, how do you guys know him, Neil? Don’t tell me… you picked a fight with him…? I’m glad to see you still have all your limbs attached.”

They all chuckled as Claude laughed heartily.

“No, no. Some adventurers attacked Cain in a back alley, and all of them got beaten up instead. We helped him carry them back to the guild.”

“…They attacked Cain. What a bunch of idiots… My condolences to them.”

“Yeah, really… Even dealing with an Earth Dragon is easier.”

Milly and Nina nodded at Lina’s words.

At those words, Neil swallowed and looked at Cain.

Not understanding, Rigg and the other two listened in on the conversation, tilting their heads in confusion.

“So then… what about the attackers? If they attacked this guy, they’ll receive a fitting punishment, right?”

Neil opened his mouth to answer Claude’s question.

“It was an attack inside the city, so apart from the base punishment of their guild cards being revoked, they’ll probably be sold as criminal slaves. But this time, ––”

“There’s that, but the attackers also said something about a request. So the guild’s going to look into it…”

At those words, Claude and the other three’s expressions stiffened.

“A request to attack Cain…? The client might want to destroy this city, huh. Or do they want to start a war?”

“Claude-san! That’s too much. There’s no way I would do something like that!”

Cain immediately tried to deny Claude’s words.

However, Rigg and the other two’s gazes gathered on Cain.

While they didn’t know his true identity, when an attack on him had been connected with things like destroying the city or a war, they couldn’t help but be in awe.

“Claude, that’s an overstatement. While he might be able to destroy this city on his own… Cain’s not like that.”

“–– That’s for sure.”

Milly and Nina nodded at Claude and Lina’s words, while Neil’s group made astonished faces.

It wasn’t that he couldn’t destroy the city, but that he wouldn’t. They imagined just how much strength one would need to do so.

(He’s right… if we’re speaking of possibility, it would be possible for me to blow the whole city up with one shot of magic…)

“Well, let’s not go there, shall we. Anyway, –– Cain. It’s nearly time for dinner, is it okay for you not to be in the inn?”

Cain made an astonished expression at that.

They were free in the afternoon to do as they liked, but that was only until dinnertime.

“Ah. I’ve got to go back immediately! Please use this to pay.”

Cain placed a gold coin on the table, stood up, said his goodbyes, and hurriedly left the tavern.

“As expected of Cain. S-Rank adventurers sure are generous.”

Rigg and the other two’s eyes widened at those words. Neil already knew, so his expression didn’t change.

“…Big bro… Did you just say S-Rank…?”

Rigg asked.

“What? He showed you his guild card, so you should know, right?”

“No, only I was there when he did, so they didn’t-… did not know.”

While Neil whispered that, Rigg and the other two froze.

They knew the criteria for the different guild ranks. They themselves were B-Rank, and they knew how they compared to Claude and his group, who were A-Rank. And as for S-Rank ‘Natural-Disaster-Classes’, their numbers could be counted with the fingers on one hand.

The fact that the not-even-grown-up adventurer in front of them was S-Rank would normally have been unbelievable.

If they had been in the place of the attackers… Chills ran through them.

“Alright alright, Cain’s not here anymore, so let’s end that conversation.”

“…Right you are. So, how’ve you guys been?”

Lina’s words closed the conversation, and Claude switched to another topic.

From Lina’s perspective, it didn’t matter that Cain was an acquaintance, he was still a Count of the Kingdom of Esfort, a higher-ranking noble and the head of his family.

During the conversation earlier, Cain hadn’t talked much about himself.

She knew he wouldn’t use his standing to punish people no matter what they said, but she still thought they should restrain themselves.

Claude, in particular, always said too much, and Lina kept on having to scold him for it. Just like it was with the case of Cain being S-Rank just then.

If he got drunk, he might start talking about Cain’s history.

So, Lina thought she should stop that before it got out of hand.

Then, in the tavern now devoid of Cain, the drinking party continued.

◇◇◇

Cain, somehow managing to make it back in time for dinner, chatted with Telestia and the other two.

The trio was happy with their shopping. In a city that did trade with most other countries, there were many products that tickled the hearts of women, and for Telestia and the other two, who were in their teens, a lot of them were irresistible.

After eating, they were told the schedule for the next day by the teachers, then all of them returned to their rooms.

And then, not long after, Cain received a summons from the teachers.

“Cain, there’s a person from the guild here to see you. They want you to accompany them back, if possible… Did something happen?”

“…Not really. I’m an adventurer, and with my rank, such things happen sometimes.”

“Is that so… We’re leaving the city tomorrow morning, so try to come back quick.”

“Okay.”

The teachers also knew that Cain was an S-Rank adventurer. If a high-ranked adventurer entered a city, the guild there would do anything to try and keep them there. However, Cain was a noble from the Kingdom of Esfort.

While he knew he couldn’t move to a different country, he also knew that he couldn’t leave a summons from the guild unanswered, so he obediently went along.

He headed back to the guild with the receptionist lady who had come to get him, Cayla.

“I’m terribly sorry about this, Cain-sama. Actually we found out who made the request to the criminals, that would be Banza-san and co., immediately, but…”

Cayla’s explanation as they walked along wasn’t all that clear. However, there must have been a definitive reason for that.

They arrived at the guild a quarter of an hour later, and Cayla showed Cain to the most luxurious room the guild had.

“Please wait here for a little bit. I’ll go call them immediately.”

A couple minutes after Cayla left, the door opened again.

The ones who entered the room were Fort, the sub-guild-master, a somewhat wide man who seemed to be in his early forties, as well as two knights who seemed to be his bodyguards.

The two of them sat down opposite Cain, with the two knights standing behind them.

“Cain-dono, sorry for making you come here at this time of day.”

Fort lightly bowed his head.

“So then… what’s going on? This is about the thing that happened today, right?”

“Yes, it’s about that…”

Fort looked as if he had swallowed something bitter and looked at the man next to him.

“I’m Malph Vandega, this city’s minister of parliament. I want you to release the adventurers held in detention here immediately. In short, –– I want you to pretend this never happened.”

“……Huh?”

Cain unexpectedly let out a voice of surprise at Malph’s unexpected words.

  3. Thanks for the Chapter…..♡
Well I wish that he would use his rank as a Count because his ‘supposed enemy’ in there is the baron and co. but he’s a higher nobility so duh…. and also remember he is also the royal family representative and ect…
Ugh! I think that the Nobility Society especially the Marquis Corgino faction is more troublesome to deal with -because it will affect the Kingdom and whatnot- than his actual mission, Evil God Aaron.

  4. City’s member of Parliament? He’s a frigging Count from a neighboring kingdom visiting and your citizens attacked him. This is a joke if he agrees. It’s getting worse. Trying to drag Corgino out as a legit threat when he’s just an annoyance that I’m finding annoying.
Evil God is the threat. Corgino is a joke character who quit being funny

  5. I’m starting to think maybe it wasn’t Corgino who made that request… could it be the Pope who wanted to assassinate the Saintess?

    1. There still no news about that Pope and what Baisas Empire are planning, and I am waiting for that…

    2. I think it’s pretty clear it was Ralph who had them attack Cain. He got butthurt that Cain already snagged the ladies. Corgino isn’t that stupid he should that Cain is powerful. No way would he hire some mediocre adventurers to attack him. Now Ralphs father is here trying to cover everything up. Cain better not be a little bitch and back down!!

  6. so.. they just give Cain free excuses to blow the entire city

  7. Thanks for the uploads as always!

Sooo let me get this straight, an s rank adventurer was attacked in their city, by their guild members, and since they failed they’re trying to sweep it under the rug….. Well that’s going to end horribly. They basically just picked a fight with a humanoid diaster. Of all things a sentient nuke is at the top of the list of not to be fucked with.

    1. Unfortunately for them Cain’s status is a national secret, if they knew even a single line or 2 of his status they would think several hundred times over before attempting an attack on him or his friends/fiancèes.

      1. Even if you discount that there is also the fact that a visiting count(also soon to be related to the king) from the other country is attacked and that is a diplomatic disaster.
