The morning sun shone through the stained glass windows of the cathedral, illuminating the inside. The roof of the hall was high up, and it was so wide that hundreds of people could gather at the same time.

In the very centre was a statue of the creator, with statues of three other gods on either side of him. The statues were all more magnificent than the ones in your everyday church, exceeding five meters in size.

And, at the altar in front of these magnificent statues, four people were kneeling.

“I don’t know if everyone will be able to go. Please understand that.”

Hinata, Cardinal Denter, and Bishop Harnam nodded at Cain’s words.

They all put their hands together in prayer, and the world turned white.

“So you did come.”

“Yes, I wanted to consult with you.”

Cain replied to Zenom’s words. He turned around, and there –– was only Hinata there, still praying.

Cain sighed, thinking it was impossible for Bishop Harnam and Cardinal Denter to come as well after all.

“Hinata, stand up and come over here.”

Hinata opened her eyes at Cain’s words, then, noticing she was in the world of the gods, she hurriedly stood up.

“It has been a long time.”

Hinata and Cain sat down.

“I was listening to your four’s conversation. But I can’t just summon all four of you here. Please understand that.”

The two of them nodded at Zenom’s words.

“Cain, Zenom-sama might not say so, but just summoning you alone takes quite the amount of divine power. Because you and Hinata have good compatibility with us gods, we can somehow manage to summon you both, but if we summoned all four of you, it would consume a huge amount. Besides, those two are still lacking in rank.”

Lime began explaining instead of Zenom. Hearing that summoning just himself to the world of the gods consumed more magical power than what all the people in the world had put together, even Cain felt apologetic.

“All right. Sorry for asking the impossible of you. Anyway, the main subject. Lime-sama, I have relayed what you told me to the person in question. However, Cardinal Denter’s faction is the smallest, so he has no prospects of winning the vote.”

“Cain. Why do you have to be so concerned about the number of votes. You could just overturn the whole thing.”

“Overturn it…?”

No matter what Cain and Hinata said, where the votes were going to would not change. Cain thought about what he needed to do to turn it all over.

“Now I’m concerned… It’s quite simple. It won’t work because you’re Cain and Hinata.”

“……Oh!”

Hinata exclaimed, as if she had noticed Zenom’s wording.

“Hinata?”

“Cain-sama, it won’t work because it’s me and you, Cain-sama. But what if –– they were the words of the Saint and the Apostle of the gods?”

“…!! I see!!”

Cain also figured it out at Hinata’s words. If they spoke as Hinata and Cain, people would think it was nonsense. However, if they were the words of the Saint and the Apostle of the Gods, anyone would be convinced.

Especially since the Holy Country of Marineford worshipped the seven gods. Cain realised that the words of those gods’ Apostle would take priority even over factions.

“But, how do I get them to know I’m an Apostle of the Gods…”

“I know how to do that. Hey, get them out quick.”

Urged by Zenom, Grim, the God of Skill, placed two robes on the table, as well as a jewel.

“I’ll give you this. This, this is ––”

Cain put them in his Item Box while Grim told him how to use them.

“Oh, right. I’ll give you this too.”

Zenom raised his right hand, and light began to shine in his palm, and then a mask appeared. It only had openings where it covered the eyes and nose.

“If you put this mask on, it will automatically change your voice. You can’t very well show your face in public as the Apostle.”

“Thanks. With this, we’ll somehow…”

“That’s it, then. It really is time for a new pope… ––––It’s better like this.”

Zenom and the other gods were smiling, but Cain could but smile bitterly.

Cain turned to the side, where Hinata was making a happy face.

(This is really embarrassing… Can I do it…)

“I’m looking forward to watching what will happen next. Cain, you know that, don’t you?”

“……Yes. I’ll do my best…”

Cain nodded as if he had given up.

“It’s about time. We’re counting on you two.”

Simultaneously with Zenom’s words, their fields of vision turned dark.

Before they knew it, they were back at the altar, praying. Cain and Hinata stood up at the same time.

Noticing that, Cardinal Denter and Bishop Harnam also stopped praying.

“…So, how did it go?”

Cain nodded at the fearfully asking Cardinal Denter with a smile.

“We met with the gods. There seem to be various restrictions, so they couldn’t summon the two of you.”

The two of them had disappointed expressions, but they cheered up at Cain and Hinata’s bright expressions.

“I’m sure we’ll be fine. The gods are watching over us, after all.”

They all nodded at Hinata’s words.
