“I can’t believe it. To think you could heal something like this, Cain-dono… Allow me to express my gratitude once again.”

Jil lowered his head, but Cain motioned him that there was no need for that.

“It’s not a problem; we did come all the way here to heal the injured, after all. If only we had gotten here sooner…”

Cain glanced out of the window at the cemetery outside the fortress walls. Were he to go to the front lines to fight, he would not lose.

But, he was a noble from a foreign country, and didn’t have the qualifications to fight in the fist place.

He would have to cope with the fact that the things he could do to help were limited.

“But thanks to you, Cain-dono, the injured have been healed and can return to the front lines. They can defend their homeland again. I’m sure they’re all very grateful. But please, take it easy for now. There have been far less attacks from Baisas recently.”

“No, I would like to do as much as I can immediately; I can rest later.”

In fact, even while Cain had been talking to Jil, the other healers had been doing the rounds, healing whoever they could.

They were replenishing their magical power with the help of potions Cain had brought along. Their mission was to heal as many people as they possibly could, after all.

Having promised to join Jil for dinner, Cain set off to help his colleagues, and they managed to heal every single injured person by the end of the day.

Mel, who had tagged along, grit her teeth in frustration every time she witnessed Cain or one of the other healers from Esfort cast healing magic.

“If only I were stronger…”

She murmured to herself. Her father, the king, had forbidden her from going to the front lines, and he had only agreed to let her accompany the healers was because Cain was there, and because they had received strict orders not to go to the front lines to fight.

If Cain hadn’t shown off his strength, neither Mel nor Randal would have been able to go to the battlefront.

Having finished healing the wounded, Cain gave them a few words of encouragement and support, announced he would be turning in for the day, and headed off to the fortress that had been holding up the front lines all on it’s own.

The fortress’ walls were over five meters tall, but showed so much wear and tear from the many battles they had lived through that they looked like they might collapse any second.

Within those walls, however, were many people working tirelessly on repairs.

And on top of the walls stood guards, watching, observing the Baisas Empire’s soldiers, staring in the direction of the enemy.

“I don’t need to go fight on the front lines. I can heal people, so who’s to say I can’t heal a fortress?”

Cain caught the eye of one of the soldiers.

“Could I please repair this fortress?”

“Huh? That’s not up to me, but I can go ask for permission.”

And off the soldier ran. A quarter of an hour or so later, Jil made his way out of the fortress, seemingly having heard about what Cain wanted to do.

“Cain-dono, I heard you wanted to repair the fortress…?”

“Yes, I can use earth magic too, and thought I might be able to help out a little, what with having finished healing everyone and all.”

“You are really skilled, Cain-dono. We beastmen can only use body strengthening magic; we don’t really need anything else.”

“I will start right away, then.”

Jil had the sentries climb down from the walls, and once he’d made sure there was no-one left on top, Cain stretched his hand out towards the wall.

“[Repair]”

As Cain cast the spell, the run-down fortress wall began to shine. The light gradually dimmed and died down, revealing the wall to now be in prime condition, the wear and tear of the past decades of its existence nowhere to be seen.

“““……”””

The beastman soldiers who had witnessed Cain’s magic had their mouths hanging open in disbelief.

Not even in their wildest dreams had they thought that the wall that had looked like it could collapse at any moment could be made to look so brand-new.

Cain, however, wasn’t finished.

He might not have been allowed to fight, but that didn’t mean he couldn’t help protect people.

He held out his hand towards the walls again, and cast another spell.

“[Create]”

The ground itself rose up with a loud rumbling. It slowly crawled up and covered the recently-repaired wall, near doubling its height.

“If I just repeat this a couple more times and then it’ll be done. It should be able to hold out against attacks pretty well.”

He turned towards Jil to get permission, only to find everyone staring at the wall in utter amazement and disbelief.

Mel covered her gaping mouth with her hand, then dive-bomb hugged Cain.

“Cain! That was amazing! Magic is incredible! I’ve never seen something like this before!”

While Mel was gushing about how wonderful Cain’s magic was, Jil and Randal both went down on one knee and bowed their heads towards Cain.

The soldiers quickly followed their example, one after the other.

Their actions greatly surprised Cain, who gestured for them all to stand back up. Except, they were all bowing their heads.

“No need to lower your heads, everyone, I just did what I could.”

Hearing that, Jil raised his head and stood up.

“Cain-sama, you are our saviour – an apostle sent by the gods.”

“Erm…”

Cain was quite shocked by what Jil had said. He hadn’t expected them to call him an apostle of the gods.

“Legend has it that when we beastmen are exposed to a Great Danger, the Apostle will come and heal the people and grant them protection. Cain-dono, nay, Cain-sama, your deeds are those of an apostle. See, I visited many foreign countries when I was young, so I understand exactly how incredible your magic is.”

Many soldiers had clasped their hands together in front of them in prayer.

Cain was a bit flustered, and Mel, though she might not have realised it, got to experience just how incredible a power magic was.

Author’s note:

Sorry for all that time I kept you all waiting. I’m quite full of motivation at the moment, so I’ll do my best and work hard on writing more.

The second Promotional Video is up on the official website.
I must say, the heroines are quite cute.

TN:

it’s been a while since I’ve been this happy about being wrong about soemthing — it seems like the author might (just maybe? (fingers crossed?)) upload more regularly from now on

btw, here’s the link to the PV Yashu mentioned in his author’s note — on YT of course

if, like me, you missed the first PV, then here it is for you — alongside a playlist where I assume they’ll be putting anything related to Cain

given how chapters might be coming out semi-regularly now, I’ll keep an eye out for them myself, and will try and have them translated and uploaded here in under 24 hours, although school might get in the way of that at some point

anyway, I hope you enjoyed the chapter, and I’ll be back whenever the next one comes out

  3. Instead of just upgrading the wall he could have used that little skill of his called world dictionary and introduced m777 Howitzer cannons to this world. I don’t know why I even has that skill you never uses it. What he could have done by now is made some howitzers modified them and even developed some kind of easy to make blast powder or gunpowder if they don’t already have that or even develop magic seals that if you apply magic to it it’ll activate to create shells for the howitzer. Last I checked the gods want him to revolutionize the development of this world so why doesn’t he freaking do it. Heck this guy could have used world dictionary to create Rubber and put tires on carriages. Or just straight up made the first car. But with cars we might be jumping a little bit far ahead too quickly.

    1. I think you forgot, if he did, would he say that he’s reincarnated? Since he knew that the other 4 people were summoned, if he did, the information about him being a reincarnated person would be revealed, which he wanted to hide.

  6. And just like that, Cain now has a lot more people who would be willing to follow him into hell if he asked them to aid him.

Speaking of which, if hell actually existed in this setting, it makes one wonder what would populate it? It would probably not be demons since this is one of the japanese fantasy settings where demons are not evil spirits but just another mortal race.

    1. Probably still Demons. Remember there are a few diffferent words in japanese for demon and they are often used to show a mortal race and an evil race in novels/manga/anime. think along the lines of demons and devils in english.

      1. Remember when i said we wouldnt see another chapter until anime was close to coming out? So of course hes releasing chapters timed to the release to trailers. Last chapter was when first pv was realeased. Guess i will see everyone once theres a new update on anime

        1. Did you not see why the author was gone last chapter? They mentioned they were recovering from Corona. Not to mention they are upping their schedule now. I think the timing is coincidental.

          1. So its just a coincidence that he released them same time as tralers dropped? Also my grandma has preexisting conditions a d was hospitalized from covid and it took less time to heal

            Like

            1. Is your grandma the author? No? Didn’t think so.

Everybody’s recovery time is different, some people take months to recover from particularly troublesome symptoms, and among the troublesome symptoms is brain fog. And brain fog takes a while to adapt to if it does not go away.

              1. Still my point is hes not writing again. So like i said he will release something close to tge time of another release because thats how some autgors are. If the anime fails they wont start writing again either because once an anime fails whats the point of still writing? The fans? If he was worried about the fans he wouldnt be ghosting us to just write a chapter or 2 every annoucemwnt time

                1. Also, not everything a japanese author does revolves around eventually getting an anime. A lot of the time, the anime is a glorified promotional material for the novel, not the other way around.

            1. You need to stop. You are kind of just being a toxic asshole at this point. Please, kindly go somewhere else. And have you not considered that the author is actually involved in some part of making the anime? Maybe that is taking up their time. So just shut up and wait. Trolls like you are not welcome in comments sections like these.

              1. Hmmm like i said during the release of the anime they did release chapters but it was of the manga not novel. But yet again does he have covid all this time? Is he dead? Or is it possible just maybe that he did what many authors have done before him when they finally get their novel turned into an anime? He wont be the first author that stops releasing chapters. Imean to be fair it could even be by the studios request that he doesnt. I mean game of thrones fans have long believed that hbo didnt want george martin to release book until show was done

                Like

          4. Man maybe they got covid again. Oh yeah thats right they were too bisy releasing a chapter of the manga when anime came out to post in here. Well guess we wont get any more until next season
