Volume 5 Chapter 3: Future Housing

Several months ago.

Lula had come to visit Cain’s office with a huge sheet of paper.

“Cain-sama, please have a look at this! I did my very best!”

Said Lula proudly, at which Cain looked at the sheet of paper she had brought with her.

It was a drawing of the whole city plan.

The cityscape was neatly organized into sections, with parks and such dotted here and there; it was such magnificent workmanship Cain let out a voice of awe.

The commercial district and such had been neatly partitioned from each other, and there was even a shopping mall small companies could fit in laid out on the drawing. The places the residents could live had also been divided up into many parts; just thinking about it made his cheeks loosen themselves.

“It’s my ideal city plan. It’s the ideal city I’ve been dreaming about since when I was in Japan! Let’s do this.”

While Cain was impressed by Lula’s enthusiastic explanation, he did wonder to himself whether this was going overboard or not.

Moreover, to actually make this, a huge amount of money was necessary, and they also lacked the manpower.

“It’ll be fine! Cain-sama, you have a huge amount of magical power! And if we only need people for the interiors, it won’t cost that much at all, and the population’s growing rapidly, so earnings from taxes will also increase as well!”

“Alright! Let’s do this!”

“Thank you very much!”

Thinking about it while considering the future, it was quite good for the city indeed.

The two of them persuaded Alec, and it was decided to be carried out.

However, even though the plan said it would take many years to build, with Cain and Lula’s ridiculousness knowing no bounds, the city was completed in just a few months.

Regarding the persuasion of the residents, they just threw it to Alec, who apparently managed to convince them by explaining how the stores and homes would be even more beautiful than before.

As Drintor had a lot of adventurers, Rikisetsu, the guild master, also approved, so there was basically nobody that opposed it.

However, there was a large empty space in the very centre of the expansive city.

“Lula, what’s this space here for?”

At Cain’s words, a smile that screamed ‘I’ve been waiting for this’ made its way onto Lula’s lips.

“We’re going to build a castle here! Cain-sama’s castle. We’ll have to welcome the Princess-sama in the future, so it really is necessary.”

“……A castle?”

“Yes, a castle. What else would it be? If we built a castle first, the residents might complain. So, I prioritised the city.”

Then, Cain and Lula started talking about what kind of castle they would build.

“I really do like the castles they have in Europe. I got to see them on a trip abroad and was really impressed by them.”

Cain’s imagination and expectations grew as well at Lula’s words.

(I can do castles with World Dictionary. And now that we’ve come this far…)

Then, with Cain’s unlimited magical power and Lula’s motivation, a castle that knew no self-restraint was built.

The only thing they had to do was create the exterior and then bring in people to do the interior details.

Of course, it goes without saying that Alec gave the two a good talking-to after having a look at the finished castle.

◇◇◇

“Cain-sama… I thought my father told you to have some self-restraint…?”

Said Telestia with a tense expression, to which Cain scratched his cheek.

“No… it was fun and I just kinda got carried away…”

“Building a castle by ‘just getting carried away’… nobody that does that!!”

“Hey, Teles, don’t say that. We’ll be living here once we get married, so isn’t it all right?”

Telestia’s angry expression changed in an instant at Silk’s words.

Her expression was now one of embarrassment, her cheeks becoming red. Perhaps she was having wild delusions about what living in the castle would be like.

“Ahem… I guess it’s all right.”

Alec, who was also standing in row in front of the castle called out to them.

“Welcome to Drintor. I’m Alec von Silford, the deputy governor. We have prepared rooms for you in the castle. It might only be for one night, but please relax as best you can here.”

Alec greeted them all crisply, bowing, his voice making the teachers and students return to themselves.

The schoolgirls involuntarily blushed upon seeing Alec.

“This way, please.”

The knights and adventurers escorting them would be staying at a different inn, so they split up there.

Of course, Claude teased Cain, saying ‘Cain, you trying to found a country or what?’ and was hit on the head by Lina again.

Guided by the servants, the teachers and students made their way inside the mansion.

The front hall was an atrium, and the whole ceiling was covered in frescoes. Voices filled with awe came from the students, who were seeing such a thing for the first time in their lives.

Cain followed Silvia, who was guiding them, even while being bathed in three cold glares.

“I came over to the mansion here to help and I was really surprised by the place being a castle.”

(Don’t call it a castle… It’ll just get more and more suspicious.)

While Cain was smiling bitterly, they were guided to their rooms.

“Cain-sama’s room is in the back over there. Everyone else, your rooms are here.”

The three girls were shown to rooms a couple of rooms over from Cain’s room.

“What about the rooms from here…?”

As Telestia asked, wondering, Silvia answered with a smile.

“Well, you see, those are… the rooms for Cain-sama’s wives, so no-one’s staying there yet.”

“!? …No way, you even prepared our own rooms for us… I want to see… please.”

“Your Highness and Silk-sama will marry Cain-sama in the future, so a little peek won’t hurt. Would you like to see? Although, you can’t stay there yet…”

““We want to see!””

The two of them latched onto Silvia’s words.

Unlocking the doors to the rooms they would be staying at and going inside, they saw a large bed, a dresser, and even a sofa.

Each of their rooms also had their own bathroom with washbasin next door, making the trio’s eyes glitter in awe.

“Amazing! We’ll be staying in such luxurious rooms… ehehe.”

“Cain-kun, thank you! Now I want to get married right away!”

The two of them smiled happily. However, the other person there bit her lips.

(Not fair… Even though I got to know Cain before they did… Just this once, I resent having Baisasean blood.)

Although she didn’t let it show, Liltana was quite jealous of the two.

However, no-one noticed that, and Silvia’s tour continued.

“These are the rooms for Cain-sama’s wives. Then, the only one left, there in the back, is Cain-sama’s room.”

““We want to see that too!!””

Silvia glanced at Cain. Knowing he had no choice, he nodded reluctantly.

Opening the heavy and thick double doors, the sight that met them was that of a set of sofas for reception of guests and such, an office-like desk, and, in the very back, –– a bed large enough to fit multiple king-sized beds in it.

There must have been enough space on it for at least ten people to sleep together.

Cain had also thought it was overkill, but Lula had said ‘This much is normal!’; it was the piece of work she had been the most enthusiastic about.

While it was indeed comfortable, Cain found sleeping alone on such a huge bed a little lonely.

“…A-Amazing… It might even be more luxurious than my father’s room…”

“So here, in the future…”

The two of them imagined the future, their cheeks colouring themselves red.

Then, unexpected words came from Liltana.

“Cain-sama… there are quite a lot of rooms prepared for your wives, aren’t there?”

At those words Telestia and Silk froze, pulled back to reality from their wild delusions.

The two of them started counting the number of doors in the corridor.

There were indeed ten rooms in total along the corridor.

Then, the two’s gazes focused on Cain.

“C-Cain-sama… don’t tell me… you’re planning to marry… this many people?”

“Cain-kun, you know even I won’t be able to tolerate ten people?”

The two of them closed in on Cain with icy glares.

“Perhaps I too––”

Liltana whispered to herself behind the other two, smiling, her cheeks becoming red.

TN: lmao let’s see him explain his way out of this one

I love if Silk become Cain first wife. And really love if Cain cut his connection with royalty. They want to complain? Dare to complain? They think their country will win against Cain? I really hate that royalty family

      1. I do hope she grows (as a character) past that. Not sure if its because she’s royalty or just insecurity (I mean, look at Cain – he IS the catch).

    1. Compared to other nobles/royalty and what could happen, this is very tame.

The fact he’s an apostle is a very big thing (especially with this being an kingdom built by the first hero).

      1) They’re not forcing him (much) to do things with his powers. I’m sure any country would welcome a god onto their country and let it be known as a deterrent against other countries invading or use that power to invade other countries (with delusion) since Cain was born in that country.

      2) While his (lack of) common sense (where are you common sense chan?) may be difficult to deal with, they also treat him as Cain requested, as normal (that Cain allows) as possible. There’s no fanatical reverence or constant fear of Cain.

      3) In some series, if the summoned/isekai’d person is unlucky, they could be branded with a slave collar/crest before knowing about their abilities to counter and be stuck (like the one beast girl was).

So far, most things asked of Cain are requests as both a citizen and noble of that kingdom with his abilities (and lack of common sense) in consideration.

    1. This!

Lula is the type of isekai I love the most: no OP powers, just straightforward knowledge. Personifies the saying, knowledge is power.

For me the closest would be by the grace of the gods and moonlit fantasy

  3. Personally on the 10 rooms I would of said they are for future children so they are close to us.
Then they could go into their delusions and I could sneak away.
By the way the list as I see it.
    The three confirmed
    Lil
The 2 sisters if they are called over.
    Leticia
    Demoness
Probably Palma (who will turn out Just guessing to be a descendant of some noble onj her moms side) Trope we know about her father but mother is never mentioned.

    1. Don’t forget Hinata and I doubt for the 2 sisters because the imouto is being trained being a maid and Lula has a thing for old men

  4. TN, I believe the only and best explanation would be “symmetry!! I did it because of the symmetry!!” I really can’t imagine anything better. Well, even if I call it the best explanation it still isn’t a good one. Thank you for the chapter ~~

  5. i think this may be foreshadowing for cain getting 10 wives
lets try to make a list of current and possible future fiances to make the number

    current:
    – teles
    – silk
    – tifana

    pending:
    – saint

    guesses on possible future fiancees:
    – liltana
    – saori(if theguesses of her and her sister getting summoned actually happens)
    – aimi(if the guess of her and saori getting summoned actually happens)
    – nina
    – milly
    – palma, i will be a bit disappointed if this does not happen since not only does she probably have the biggest love flag used in manga/anime(being the first girl that is not family close to his age that mc meets) i also just like her character

so these are my guesses if this really is a foreshadowing, some of these may or may not be based on wishful thinking
so anyone else wanna share their list?

    1. from what i remember, the 3 and the saint are confirmed, and later the daughter of the demon king will be too
i don’t remember if liltana will be included, i do remember that there will be trouble with the country on the side of the asshole marquis and that they might want to tie up relationships with it when it is settled tho

    2. Beast Girl inn keeper and Beast Girl shop assistant. I know Palma is one of them but I forget the others name… Oh and Rain, his sister… Can’t forget his biological sister. They’re royalty after all so it’s no big deal. Also she’s his half sister…

      1. Uhm No Reine is his full biological sister.

Thanks for the chapter, TL-san! Coincidentally, do you have a Discord server? If you don’t, then do you plan on making one? Because I would love to be directly notified if there’s a new chapter or if you’re going to pick up a new series 😀

It’s fine if you don’t plan to, I was just asking. Again, thanks for chapter \o/ おつかれさまでした!!!

  8. Yah… so what??? Just do a killing glare and be done with it.

Why does he have to be so weak willed against them??? It’s not like their relation was organically built.

They literally forced him to be their fiancee and he has a drastically higher level of power over them.

He could be whipped if they had their love and relationship built up before being fiancee (hell, they weren’t even built up after either) or if there was some level of equality…

But neither of that exists… it’s neither organic nor equal…

  10. Honestly maybe 2-3 wives would be my limit. I don’t feel like dealing with bat shit crazy and I also don’t want to be talked down to when I have so much power and give them so much. Like hell, I just want to adventure, create, and live in peace.

He has no backbone and just does what people tell him to until someone hurts friends, family, and or loved ones. The worst part is that everyone knows that he could destroy countries with just a sneeze or whistle and yet he get treated like shit constantly. Just tell them to leave you alone and let you live in peace. As long as your contributing to the kingdom and not trying to take over (even though he was offered multiple times already) who cares.

    1. The problem is that the author wants to add problems without justified reason. Simple as that.

He wants to add the tropes without any basis.

For his enemies? Just keep him ignorant until the damage happens. But nope; he knows who is enemy is and does nothing.

For relationships, maybe make it a real relationship and give then reasonable complaint? Nope, don’t do that.

But give the same tropes anyways.

Author wants to write a story that doesn’t work for OP people but makes the MC OP anyways.

    3. i agree that the way silk, teles and his sister treat him is really unfair and that he should get some backbone in that regard, everyone else treat him really well tho(not counting his enemies)

i dont mind an mc being a bit stupid but cain is stupid af(and no, being an airhead and oblivious does not justify everything) examples:
on corgino: “i wonder if i should do something against this guy that has been against me ever since i got a title and has been either directly or indirectly involved in almost all my troubles?…nah, lets just leave him be”

on his strength: “hmm, maybe i should learn to control my magic better so basic low tier spells does not have the power of a high tier spell?…nah”

      on common sense:
-“hmm, maybe i should read on how common/rare blessings from gods and their levels is so i dont accidentaly make my status look OP?…nah, this should be fine”
-“maybe i should learn the power/range of spells by observing others instead of using myself as a measuring stick and just make it a bit weaker?…nah”
-“should i research what the standard for a magic bag is or should i create based on guesses?…nah, let us just wing it and hope i make a standard one”

his lack of wanting to learn common sense in the world he lives in is probably the stupidest part of him and it even contradicts early chapters were it said that he read almost every book in the library in his home when he was little just to learn about the world
