After Cain was preached at for a while, it was dinnertime, so his small group and all the students gathered in the hall.

Then, after they had all arrived, servants guided them to the dining room.

And, as they opened the doors––

A large number of different foods lined up to the side, as well as a number of round tables surrounded by chairs.

Perhaps due to Lula’s views on using her knowledge from her previous life, the whole thing was in a buffet style. For the young students, being able to pick the things they liked would indeed be satisfying.

From salads, through meat dishes, all the way to dessert, a whole range of foods was lined up.

“––Wow…”

“Yeah… all of them seem delicious.”

The servants guided the newly-arrived students and teachers to their tables.

As expected, Telestia, Silk, and Liltana ended up sitting at the same table as Cain.

Then, confirming that everyone was seated, the servants brought out pre-meal drinks. Then, Alec stood up.

“Welcome to Drintor, everyone! While the lord of the territory might be here, I have no doubt that he would like to be treated as a simple student today. While I saw everyone was surprised by this, I made arrangements for everyone to be able to pick the foods they want. All you have to do is choose the foods you want. Then, cheers!”

The students were given fruit juice while the teachers were given wine.

Moreover, not only were the glasses the drinks came in the fine glasswork glasses that were valuable even in the royal capital, which were said to only be obtainable after a reservation and wait, but every single piece of tableware was sophisticated.

There were commoners there, but they were basically all the sons and daughters of merchants, and most of the students present were all nobles’ children.

Many of the nobles’ daughters were fascinated by the glasses themselves even more than the drinks that came in them.

Then, the students looked over the long line of all sorts of foods, and, picking out the ones they wanted and putting them on their plates, returned to their tables.

Prompted by Cain, his small group all went together to pick their dishes.

“All of them look so delicious, I can’t make up my mind on which one I want…”

“Yeah, this much food being lined up, it’s like a party in the royal castle, isn’t it?”

“This is the first eating style in the empire.”

Telestia and the other two girls also happily chose their food.

There were maids standing behind the food, who, when told by the students what they wanted, would neatly portion it out for them.

“Delicious… it’s warm, as if it was just cooked.”

Exclamations of ‘Delicious!’ came from the other tables as well.

The teachers too, drank their wine with relish, also enjoying their meal.

Maids cleared away the empty plates during the time when the students had gone back to the buffet to get more food.

Taking a quick look around, Cain saw Laura also clearing away the empty plates, at which he smiled a little.

Everyone was eating and talking to each other happily, but the thing the female students were looking forward the most to was dessert.

A wide selection of cakes and fruits were lined up. Every single one of them was cut into small pieces.

They must have used quite a lot of Drintor’s sugar supplies for this.

(Man, Lula’s smart… there’s no way I could do this.)

Lula, who was standing in a corner of the room, and Cain’s eyes met, at which Lula grinned.

Then, she sneakily made a thumbs-up as if asking ‘How is it?’

Cain unintentionally gave a small smile, then nodded slightly, because Telestia and the other two seemed to be having fun.

After they had all finished eating, the teachers explained the next day’s schedule to them, after which the students all returned to their rooms.

After that, Alec explained to them that there were baths in the mansion, after which maids separately guided the boys and girls to the baths and told them how to use them.

And, voices of surprise came from the baths too.

The baths incorporated the tastes of Cain’s and Lula’s previous lives.

And the baths weren’t half-hearted at all, either. Clear tiles, and a spacious washroom and bathtubs. There were even open-air baths.

When he had first seen that, Alec had said ‘Seriously… I beg you, have some self-restraint.’

Having been in the baths, the students were basically free to do as they please, so some went back to their rooms and relaxed, while others hit the hay early.

The teachers, seemingly not having drunk enough yet, were shown to a separate room by Alec, where they could drink some more.

Alec was a graduate of the academy as well, and he knew some of the teachers there, so they reminisced about old times together.

And then, Telestia and the other two had assembled in Cain’s bedroom.

Darmeshia had made them all some black tea, after which he had excused himself with a ‘Please take it easy and relax.’

“Seriously, to think something like this would happen at the very start of our study trip…”

“Yeah. Apparently, until last year, they always stayed in inns. And now we’re staying in a castle…”

“Yeah, who would have thought there would be a castle built here…”

“We really were supposed to stay at an inn. I didn’t know it would turn into this either…”

Alec had told him that they would be staying in an inn, so Cain had not been expecting this warm of a welcome at all.

Sighing, he sipped his tea.

“I want to graduate and get married already, so I can come and live here… isn’t that right, Cain-sama?”

“Yeah, the sooner we come to live here after graduation the better.”

Although Telestia and Silk spoke really cheerfully, Liltana’s mood worsened a little.

“…even though I met him first…”

Liltana whispered to herself, but that whisper reached Cain’s ears.

“What’s up, Lil? Do you feel sick? You don’t look that good…”

At Cain’s words, Liltana grabbed her necklace’s stone and shook her head.

However, noticing the stone on the necklace, Silk asked her about it.

“By the way, Lil, that’s a cute necklace you’ve got. And you always have it on you too. You didn’t take it off in the bath either, it must be really important to you. Can I see it?”

“Th-this is…”

She unclenched her hand, and a blue stone that matched her hair’s colour was revealed.

“What a beautiful stone… you’re always wearing it, so it must be really important.”

“…Yeah.”

“Ooooh… Lil, did you get it from the person you like?”

Liltana’s face turned red at Silk’s casual words.

Smelling romance, Telestia and Silk instantly became more interested.

“So there was someone like that, Lil.”

“Hey, hey, what are they like? Come on, tell us tell us!”

At first, Liltana was quite reluctant, but then she slowly told them about the time she had been given it.

She had gone to visit a certain town, and had bumped into a boy in the marketplace there. Then, they had chosen necklaces for each other.

As the story continued, while Telestia and Silk’s excitement rose, Cain frowned more and more.

(This seems familiar… and that necklace… I feel like I’ve seen it before. But where…)

Cain suddenly grabbed the stone of his own necklace.

(What… don’t tell me that story…)

Cain looked down at the stone on his necklace. Then, he remembered something from his past.

The pieces of his memory fitting together.

“I met such a wonderful person. And then, and then… that person…”

Opposite to the other two’s excited expressions, Liltana’s mood turned for the worse.

Seeing her expression, the other two also calmed down and said ‘Sorry.’

Then, Cain called out to Liltana with a serious face.

“––––Lil, are you by any chance… the Lil I met back then… in Lamesta’s marketplace…?”

At Cain’s words, Liltana looked at him with a bright red face, and –––– nodded silently.
