Being hit by the boys’ jealous gazes, Cain grimaced.

“B-Both of you… D-Don’t tell me, Your Imperial Highness Liltana as well…!?”

At those words, Liltana silently looked at Cain, her cheeks turning red.

“W-What the…”

“Those three beauties…”

“Unforgivable…”

“He must burn!”

“Go bald, damnit!”

Still hostile, Ralph stepped forward to Cain, who was still in the middle of the reproachful gazes from the other students, and greeted him.

“May I ask for your name…?”

“It’s Cain, Cain von Silford.”

Cain might have been in his uniform, but his movements were still refined and brilliant as only a noble could have.

While Ralph was not straightforward enough to give up easily at that, he still backed off.

“Is that so… Understood.”

Ralph disappeared amongst the students, seemingly regretful.

Perhaps due to also having given up, the other students also scattered among the tables.

Cain’s group of four was relieved, and the four of them resumed their light meal.

However, the target –– had now become Cain.

“Ummm… Would you like to talk with us for a little, if you would be so kind…?”

When he turned around, he saw five girls wearing the Ghazal Academy’s school uniform.

Ilstin was also polygamous. Ralph had backed down hearing that the girls had a fiancé already, but the same thing didn’t apply to girls.

With Cain being the fiancé of both a princess and a duke’s daughter from Esfort, they could easily guess that he was the son of a high-ranking noble there.

The girls understood that if he took a liking to them, their futures would be guaranteed as concubines.

“Eh… with me!?”

Cain looked at the nodding girls, who, while they wouldn’t measure up to Telestia and the other two in beauty, were still very much so.

He was about to reflexively answer ‘Okay’, but then suddenly felt killing intent from behind him, so he turned around, and––

Standing there were –– Telestia and Silk, who, while having smiles on their faces, weren’t smiling with their eyes at all.

Thinking this was starting to get bad, Cain turned back, and, ignoring the two behind him, replied.

“Can’t we… all talk together? I think Teles and Silk also want to talk with everyone.”

Was the reply Cain managed to squeeze out.

The girls had never had a chance to talk with a real princess or imperial princess before. Nodding happily, they also went over to the table and spent the time chatting and making friends with Telestia and the other two.

The welcome party then ended, and Cain’s group also broke up, all of them now being free for the rest of the afternoon.

Telestia’s trio would be going shopping, while Cain was thinking about accompanying them.

“I think it’s a good thing for just us to go out once in a while. Ummm… r-right, yes! We’re going to buy things we don’t want you to see, Cain-kun. Not just clothes, but… ummm…”

“That’s right… It really would be quite embarrassing…”

Ghazal was the city of trade, and as such, it was the location of most imports and exports from other countries.

There had been a lot of shops on the way from their inn to the academy, and there were many goods that had caught their eyes.

“Yeah, gotcha. I’ll go look around the city then.”

Cain left the inn and strolled around the city. He had a look in a general store, where folk crafts from Balzana, imported goods from other countries and other such things were lined up.

“Oh, they have reversi too…”

Muttered Cain, after which an employee called out to him from behind.

“Oho, that product is called reversi, it’s a game we ordered from the Kingdom of Esfort. Would you like one?”

Cain couldn’t very well say he was the inventor, so he just shook his head with a bitter smile.

He left the store and walked around the city some more, then suddenly felt a gaze on his back.

(Huh? I’m being shadowed…?)

He stopped and turned around, but the gaze disappeared.

(Meh, it’s fine…)

Walking through the city, Cain saw a familiar signboard.

A signboard bearing a shield with swords crossed in front of it: the adventurers’ guild.

(I wonder what kind of requests they have… although there’s no way I can accept one right now…)

When he opened the door and stepped inside, all gazes gathered on him, but as he was wearing his uniform, they dispersed soon after, their owners thinking he was just another young adventurer.

He looked at the request board, which had monster extermination and material gathering requests, as well as a lot of escort requests. If they were only until the closer towns, even low-rank adventurers could accept those.

However, the ones where they had to pass through more dangerous places required them to be at least C-Rank.

As Cain was looking at the request board, a voice called out to him from behind.

“Brat, you’re in the way, move.”

Cain turned around to see four adventurers standing there. All of them were in their mid-twenties, with the party consisting of two swordsmen, a rogue, and a magician.

“Oh, sorry…”

Cain lightly stepped aside to let the bad-tempered adventurers pass. The adventurers then went on to scrutinize the request board.

Cain left the guild building.

(So I am being followed after all…)

Having that feeling, Cain entered an alley.

He walked along while using Search, when five men appeared, either due to the place being deserted, or because they had no intentions of hiding themselves.

“––D’you need something…?”

The men grinned at Cain’s words. All of them were likely adventurers. They had leather armour, and all of them had swords hanging from their waists.

“Noo, we just saw a brat in high-quality clothes, and thought we’d earn some pocket money… And if a student comes to a place like this…”

“Right right. We failed a request. So if you could just give us a little blessing?”

The men grinned.

“In that case, why not try accepting requests actually on your level? If you do things like this, not only will the guild take your proof of membership away, but you’ll also go to prison, won’t you? I’m an adventurer too, so I know at least that much too.”

The adventurers were a little taken aback by Cain’s words, then started laughing at his arguments.

“You, an adventurer… And as for the adventurers guild, a little corruption and anything can happen…”

Simultaneously with those words, one of the men sent a punch towards Cain. The man’s right fist was heading straight for Cain, who just stepped to the side and deflected it with his own left hand.

Amazed, Cain heaved a sigh.

“So talking’s no good…”

The men hadn’t expected him to dodge, and, while a little surprised, heightened their vigilance.

They spread out around Cain, surrounding him, and two of them unsheathed their swords.

“Ah… If you pull out your swords, that’s the end. There’s no room for excuses any more.”

If adventurers pulled out their swords at each other, –– it meant they were ready to kill.

While this rule wasn’t written down clearly anywhere, it was an unspoken agreement amongst adventurers.

To the men attacking Cain, it might just have been a threat they were using, but once they had pulled out their swords, anything could happen.

“Hmm, we won’t kill you. But… we might take an arm.”

For the five men surrounding Cain, this might have been nothing more than a game, but they had no way of knowing that the boy they had surrounded was a monster.

Moving in a split second, Cain punched one of them in the stomach, making the man lose his consciousness. Then, he kicked another’s ankle, crushing the man’s bones.

The two men who had pulled out their swords had been removed from battle.

“––Just you three left?”

The men froze at Cain’s words and the unexpected turn of events.

They had only wanted to play a little, but had ended up stepping on the tiger’s, no… the dragon’s tail.

“–––– We failed. We shouldn’t have accepted this stupid request…”

The leader of the group sighed as he unsheathed his sword.

However, Cain didn’t miss that near-whisper.

“––Request? To attack me…? In that case… I’m going to need you to spit out the client.”

Cain spread out his killing intent, making the men tremble.

“M-monster… damnit…”

With those final words, the three lost their consciousnesses to Cain in a mere couple of seconds.

Looking down at the five collapsed men on the ground, Cain wondered what to do now.

He could tie all of them up and take them back to the guild, but no matter how close it was, he would still stand out.

As he was thinking like that, four new people appeared in the alley.

“Ooh, I knew it would be interesting when I felt that killing intent… wait, you, you’re that brat from the guild, aren’t you.”

The people who had appeared in the alley were the adventurers who had told Cain to ‘Move!’ in the adventurers’ guild.

  1. Can Cain at least take an arm or two whenever random idiots like these try to mess with him? If that’s too brutal then at least break their bones to disable them permanently.

  2. There’s no way this was that nobles “big plan” right? I hope not, if so shoddy writing doesn’t even begin to describe this laziness. But we shall see. Thanks for the chapter!

I’d think Corgino would be smart enough to send more than four considering he is all to aware of Cains track record. Good minions are so hard to find i swear. Unless your Cain an then they swear unending loyalty out of abject terror lol *looks at Demon-King san* *cough* * cough*
