Noticing that the students had gone ahead, Cain followed them a little behind.

Leaving the arena, they then went on tours of other facilities.

Then, they called it a day and went back to the inn.

Collapsing down onto his bed, Cain thought about the future until dinnertime.

“I saved her on the spur of the moment, but what do I do now… I told her to take it easy, so I guess I should just let Seto handle this. She seemed to know him.”

Then, there was a knock on the door. After Cain gave permission to enter, the one who opened the door and stepped inside turned out to be Silk.

“Cain-kun, I came to hear about what happened earlier.”

“I knew you would…”

Muttered Cain while giving her the go-ahead to sit on a chair in the room, and sitting up on his bed.

Wondering how he should explain everything, he eventually decided to just be frank with her.

“I have an acquaintance among the demons. He helped me out in the monster flood in the Gracia territory in the past. And I thought, ‘What if they know each other’… But, I couldn’t just save her, so I had to dress like that…”

Cain said with a bitter smile.

It was natural that people would wonder what kind of crazy person he was if he appeared wearing a hooded cloak and mask.

Not seeming to care about such things, Silk nodded.

“Hmmm, so that’s what it was. There was a huge uproar while you weren’t there. You suddenly appeared, defeated the country’s strongest adventurer with one hit, and then disappeared just as suddenly. There were people asking things like ‘Will there be attacks from the demons in the future?’ as well…”

“If that demon lady had been injured… If that were discovered, it might very well have led to a war. I asked her and apparently she was something like a princess of the country of demons…”

“––Really. Then, it’s good you saved her, right? So then she…?”

“I took her to my mansion to recuperate. It seems like she had been treated like a slave ever since she was captured… I left her in Darmeshia’s hands.”

Silk’s relief showed on her face at Cain’s words.

“Cain-kun… you really have a lot of connections with princesses and the like, don’t you. I don’t really mind, personally, but if you increase the number of fiancées you have, Teles will be jealous, you know?”

Cain couldn’t help but nearly burst into laughter at those words. He had not been expecting that at all. While Lisabeth was indeed beautiful, she was also a princess in the country of demons. He could gather as much from how Darmeshia had reacted to her presence.

“That won’t happen. She’ll just relax for a little bit, and then I’ll have her go back to her country.”

“That should be fine… Oh, well. I’ll keep it a secret from Teles and Lil!”

Silk stood up from her chair and went over to the door, where, putting her hand on the doorknob, she turned around.

“Also, that masked look ––it was a little embarrassing, don’t you think?”

With those final words, Silk left the room.

Now alone, Cain heaved a huge sigh.

“So she did think that after all…”

Cain muttered in a small voice.

The next day.

It was finally time for the parliament to come to a resolution on the occurrence that had happened previously.

Cain got dressed, and, after explaining to the teachers, he split up from their group and got in the carriage that had come to get him.

Riding alone in the carriage was a little lonely, but looking out of the small window at the cityscape, he arrived at the parliament hall in around fifteen minutes.

“Count Silford, this way please.”

Following an official, he was shown to a private room. Fort, the sub-guild-master, and a middle-aged man were sitting there, waiting.

“Sir Silford, please sit down. First, introductions. This is the guild master of the capital of Ilstin, ––”

“I’ll take it from there. I am Zabmar, this country’s guild master. Sorry for the trouble.”

Zabmar brushed his white hair back a little and bowed lightly with a dignified face.

“I’m Cain, Count Cain von Silford Drintor. I’m sorry for it all as well…”

Cain also lightly lowered his head in a bow, then sat down.

“Then, I will explain what will be happening. Facts are confirmed by the parliament. This time though, they already know the rough contents, so I think they’ll mostly focus on your compensation and the punishment of the Vandega father and son.”

Fort then explained what would likely happen. Cain, having no knowledge of how a foreign country’s parliament worked, simply nodded along.

Then, the time flowed away while they were chatting, when there was a knock on the door.

It was finally Cain’s turn, and he headed to the parliament hall.

Guided by an official, they walked down a corridor for several minutes before stopping in front of a large door.

Fort and Zabmar were standing next to each other behind Cain. They would be entering with him, speaking for him as witnesses.

Then, the door opened.

Walking inside, they found themselves in a bowl-shaped set-up of MP seats, with the old man who was presumably the chairman in the very middle, and seats lined up opposite him in front of him.

There were already tens of people sitting in the MP’s seats, and in the spectators’ seats further back, the students from the academy had already sat down and were also looking on.

The Vandega father and son, as well as their helper, had already taken their seats.

Under the direction of the official, Cain’s group of three also sat down in their designated seats.

Making sure they were all seated, the chairman looked around and nodded.

“I declare today’s parliamentary session open.”

The parliamentary session opened with the chairman’s declaration.

  2. Did I skip a chapter? When was the Garcia Territory flood event? I know what happened because of the manga, but I don’t remember reading the novel version.

      1. Yeah. I think it was an excuse to hide that demon he knows is actually his summoned contract. I was wondering about that, too but figured he can’t just say, “Yeah, I have a demon king on standby!”.

  5. Seriously, if they pull some stunt and say ‘we have a witness’ or something like that, all Cain has to do is direct his bloodlust specifically at them to make them shut up when they definitely have to speak and automatically screw themselves over…..

  6. I really want to see what Malph will try to do to cover up the truth or to silence Cain, his time is really about to run out if he doesn’t do his move right about now.
