Cain made a surprised expression at Seto’s words.

Apparently the problem was that Lisabeth had been treated as a slave and that someone had taken her away from there and the demons now didn’t know her location.

So, they were going to start a war with the human countries to look for her.

It was impossible to imagine just how many would be sacrificed to the war. Humans and demons would inflict great wounds on each other.

But the Benestos Empire was still resolved to go to war.

However, demons were ruled by a collection of Demon Kings. War wouldn’t be that easy.

Seto knew about Cain, and he could easily see that if they went to war with the Kingdom of Esfort, where Cain lived, the demons would be completely annihilated.

So, Seto had been trying to come up with a plan to stop the demons from going to war.

“Is that so… Thanks, Seto.”

Cain expressed his gratitude.

“So, I was just asking Cain to accompany me to the Empire.”

Seto was taken aback by Lisabeth’s words.

Even in the very country he himself governed, the upper echelons were in favour of starting a war with the humans.

However, if Cain went to the demon countries in person and showed them his power, it should be enough to deter war.

If Lisabeth, Seto, and Cain went to the empire and tried to dissuade the people there from war, surely war could be prevented.

“Then I will accompany you to the Empire too. If something were to happen, perhaps I would still be of at least a little use.”

“All right. I am grateful to you for accompanying me, Seto-sama.”

The two of them proceeded through the conversation rapidly, thinking Cain accompanying them was already a decided fact, but he couldn’t just up and leave the Kingdom without telling anyone. He was a lord in the Kingdom of Esfort after all.

For him to go to the countries of the demons, he had to explain to the king and then receive permission from him.

“First, I’ll go explain to the king. I can’t just leave the kingdom without telling anyone, after all.”

“Then I will accompany you. If I want a foreign country’s noble to accompany me, I’ll have to show myself.”

Cain nodded and used transfer magic to go to the king to ask for permission.

◇◇◇

The arrangements for his audience with the king were quickly made.

He said it was an emergency, and that he was bringing two people with him.

Then, he quickly returned to Drintor and then once again Transferred to the royal capital, taking Lisabeth and Seto with him.

Cain, Seto, and Lisabeth sat down in the reception room, with the king, Duke Eric, Magna, and Dime, standing behind them, facing them.

“Cain… Don’t tell me, you want to increase their numbers again…?”

Asked the king involuntarily upon seeing Lisabeth’s beauty.

“…Naturally, I didn’t ask for an emergency audience for something like that. Actually… there’s a possibility that the demon countries as a whole will declare war upon the human countries.”

“!? Wh-what did you say!?”

Everyone there showed surprise at Cain’s words.

As they were the kingdom’s upper echelons, they were quite aware that demon countries existed. And while publicly they were hostile with the demon countries, they basically never interfered with each other.

Thus, suddenly declaring war on the human countries was unthinkable.

“Cain… could you please explain what you mean…?”

“Well, actually… you know Lisabeth here next to me, and remember how I went on a school trip to the Republic of Ilstin? She was –– turned into a slave there. Then, as it seemed like she would be killed in the arena, I saved her.”

“That… why would that lead to a declaration of war…?”

“I will tell you about that.”

Said Lisabeth, then undid the transformation magic that made her look human.

The young girl with five horns on her forehead and red eyes returned.

“!? S-she was a d-demon…?”

“Yes. Seto too…”

Seto gave a nod, then undid his transformation, returning to the appearance of a demon with splendid horns.

“I am the Benestos Empire’s Imperial Princess, Lisabeth van Benestos. Next to me is Seto-sama, a Demon King.”

Magna’s face paled at that introduction.

“T-the I-Imperial Princess-sama…”

“And a Demon King…”

Duke Eric and Magna weren’t only knowledgeable about Esfort, they also seemed to know a lot about the demon countries.

What kind of country the Empire was for the demons, and what kind of position being the Imperial Princess was.

“N-no way, Ilstin turned the Imperial Princess-sama into a slave and tried to have her killed as an attraction in an arena…”

Cain nodded silently at Magna’s words.

“Those Ilstinean idiots!! Not only do they attack our daughters, they do things like that as well…”

As expected, the king was furious.

Naturally, this was not a matter for Esfort alone though.

The first target would be the Republic of Ilstin, and then the rest of the countries in its area would also be attacked.

In the worst case, the demons would declare war on all human countries. It would not be possible for just the Kingdom of Esfort to remain unharmed.

“Cain, what are you intending to do…”

“I was thinking of going to the demon countries with Lisabeth and Seto. I doubt there’s any other way…”

“I’ll explain about that.”

Seto then began to explain the current state of affairs in the demon countries.

As he continued his explanation, the king and the others’ expressions became grimmer and grimmer.

“–––– And that’s about it.”

Once Seto’s explanation was over, the king and the others sighed.

Anyone would sigh in frustration if they found out that all the demon countries were in favour of the start of the war.

“…I’ve been wondering, why is Seto-dono, a Demon King with you…?”

Duke Eric posed the question.

The fact that Seto, a Demon King, was there was strange enough in itself.

And if they knew the Imperial Princess was safe, they wouldn’t have thought of starting a war.

“Well… I summoned him to ask for help.”

But Cain’s words just made Duke Eric wonder more.

“Cain-kun and Seto-dono, have you known each other for some time now…?”

“Yes, just a bit though…”

“Don’t tell me… he’s the one who you summoned during that class back then…?”

Smiling bitterly, Cain nodded at Duke Eric’s words.

“Indeed, I am Cain-sama’s subordinate.”

Cain’s face twitched at Seto’s words.

“…Cain… is what he just said true…? That Seto-dono, a Demon King, is your subordinate…?”

However, the one who replied to the king’s question was –– Seto.

“Of course. Cain-sama is the person who rules this whole world, after all.”

Cain looked at Seto, who was roaring with laughter, then looked up at the heavens with a resigned expression.

  1. I feel like Ilstin needs to be threatened by the demons to learn their lesson. Hope the demon kingdom doesn’t just go like: “our princess is safe! Everything is okay!” Hope they actually attack Ilstin and just Ilstin with all their power and the other countries will learn to be demon friendly.

  2. Haha, The question popped as soon as Cain entered the meeting hall “Cain, don’t tell me you’re increasing your numbers again.” It just shows how beautiful Lisabeth is. It was a good read. Thanks for translating this chapter.

    1. Um…The same was in the last chapter but…what the hell, people?! The ones “right” here are, without a doubt, the demons. It’s the HUMANS that capture, enslave and kill demons just for them being the demons. And it’s the humans that treated a very important person for the entire demon race as a meat bag for their S-rank adventurer.

By saying things like “Time for demons to taste defeat” and such, you’re doing nothing but showing your support for racial-based manslaughter. Basically, you’re following the ideology so beloved by Hitler. Just changing the around the ‘ruler’ and the ‘trash’.

Cain can certainly defeat the demons, but he can also defeat the humans. Not to mention, he is fully aware that it is the humans that have committed a heinous crime here. There’s no way he’d wantonly kill demons for doing nothing but, pretty much, defending their own race.

      1. Fortunately, he has basically sided with the Demons on this one; he just wants to minimize escalation of the situation to, at most, the elimination of a single country instead of what would effectively be a world war.

Also, regarding Lisabeth and potential romance…

Given how most things in the demon countries are decided by strength, it would be quite likely for her to chase him, even knowing that he has three public engagements (and at least two pending…)

      2. “Right” and “justified” are not always the same. They are “right” in being collectively pissed at human countries, but not “justified” in going straight to war.
It isn’t even as if she was kidnapped from a friendly territory … she covertly entered what is nominally an enemy territory, disguised and under false identity, and traveled around to collect information. Most countries would be “justified” in capturing her on grounds of being a hostile spy, or worse a military covert operations unit. They weren’t “right” in how they handled her though, failing to follow any sensible procedure for counterintelligence.
Imprisoned or missing nationals, agents or otherwise, are normally a diplomatic issue for diplomatic solutions, whenever possible. They certainly wouldn’t trigger global warfare to get them back.

Imperial Princesses might be a different story, of course, but such ladies are normally well protected, rarely visit hostile countries, and are never allowed to any of the spy like things I mentioned a moment ago. There are also diplomatic terms for Imperial Idiots who recklessly do such things anyway, get blind drunk, fail their rolls on Maintain Magic, Disguise, Initiative and Escape, getting captured by a bunch of human NPC level trash. One such term is “liability” … another is “initiator of unfortunate consequences” … less polite and more r-18 characters might instead opt for “asking to be spanked”, given her apparent personality.
